Worming Bit
A "worming bit" is a specialised horse bit designed to make administering worming paste easier and more precise by allowing you to place the paste directly on the back of the horse's tongue using a syringe inserted into the bit's mouthpiece, essentially preventing the horse from spitting it out; it typically has a strap that goes over the horse's ears to keep it securely in place.
Key points about using a worming bit:
Function:
The bit is designed to hold the worming paste in place on the horse's tongue, ensuring the medication is properly administered.
Application:
Insert the worming paste into the bit's chamber.
Place the bit in the horse's mouth.
Secure the strap over the horse's ears.
Slowly dispense the paste onto the back of the tongue.
Benefits:
Reduced stress for horse and handler: The bit provides a more controlled way to administer paste, reducing the struggle to get the medication into the horse.
Improved accuracy: By placing the paste directly on the tongue, it minimizes the chance of the horse spitting out the medication.
